Audiologist recording results from a patients hearing test

Audiology Services

At Hearing Evaluation Services of Buffalo, we offer a wide range of services for all your hearing, hearing aid, balance, and tinnitus, needs. We provide the highest quality of care to patients of all ages, as seen through our extensive testing and rehabilitative services. Whether you are experiencing hearing loss or tinnitus, the first step is always a hearing test.

Our Doctors of Audiology recognize that the “standard” services you might find in other hearing practices do not always address all the special needs of our patients.  Therefore, in addition to our hearing, hearing aid, tinnitus, and balance programs, HES offers other important services to our community at our Amherst, Williamsville, Orchard Park, and Tonawanda offices to help you experience total audiological health.

Hearing Aid Repairs

We work with all the major hearing aid manufacturers, which allows us to service and repair a wide range of devices, including hearing aids that were not purchased at HES.

We are happy to help anyone who has hearing aids from other audiology practices as well as from retail locations or over-the-counter (OTC) devices.

We can verify the settings of all hearing aids to ensure you are getting the maximum benefit for your hearing loss needs. Verifying hearing aids is the best practice but only 35% of hearing care providers consistently perform this test. At HES, we verify the settings for every hearing aid fitting and after every updated hearing evaluation.

We can also perform many minor hearing aid repairs right in our office. If your device requires more extensive repairs, we can offer loaner devices so you don’t have to struggle to hear while you wait for your hearing aid to be repaired.

If you have any kind of problem with your hearing aid, call us. We can help!

Man using hearing protection to prevent hearing loss

Custom Hearing Protection

Loud noise exposure is one of the most common causes of hearing loss in people of all ages. Any time the noise level exceeds 85 decibels, it’s important to wear some form of hearing protection to prevent any damage to the tiny hair cells in your inner ears.

At Hearing Evaluation Services of Buffalo, we carry custom fit hearing protection such as earmolds, earplugs, swim molds, and musician’s earmolds.

Earwax Removal

Earwax, medically known as cerumen, plays a crucial role in maintaining the health and function of your ears. However, sometimes it can become impacted, causing clogged ears and muffled hearing.

If you are experiencing discomfort in your ears due to impacted earwax, our audiologists can help. While it can be tempting to attempt to remove earwax on your own at home, this can often lead to further complications. Using a cotton swab or other object pushes earwax deeper into the ear canal, causing impaction and increasing the risk of ear injury.

As doctors of audiology, our team can expertly and safely extract earwax in office. Using the most advanced techniques and technology, we can remove cerumen accumulation, clean your ears, and provide education on how to keep your ears healthy and clean for the future.

In just a few minutes, we can give you an idea on how you are hearing. You will need headphones for this test. Please be aware that this screening is not a diagnostic clinical hearing evaluation and is not designed to replace a professional hearing test.

Virtual Appointments

For a telehealth appointment, all you need is a computer, smartphone, tablet, and earbuds or headphones. No special equipment is necessary.

In addition to general telehealth appointments, many hearing aid models are equipped with technology that allows your audiologist to provide follow-up care and program adjustment without a trip to the office. If you currently have hearing aids, ask your audiologist if this is an option for you!

Another major advantage of this new program is the increase in our ability to provide continued care for our “snowbird” patients or patients that might be traveling in general and may encounter an issue. You no longer have to delay your care until your return. We are here to help, wherever you are.
